Hadrian’s Wall
This impressive structure was built between 122 AD and 128 AD by the Romans seeking to protect themselves from Scottish tribes. It is an incredible 73 miles long and reaches from the Irish to the North Sea. Much of the wall has deteriorated over time but visitors can follow the national path from Wallsend to Bowness-on-Solway for a glimpse back in time.

York Minster
This massive gothic church is one of the leading examples of this style of architecture and also one of the largest. The size alone is impressive. The building is adorned with countless details that would take the whole day to see.

The building was constructed between 1230 and 1472 and features every major stage of gothic design in all of England. If that isn’t enough of a draw on its own, it houses the largest medieval stained glass window in the entire world. This piece is known as the Great East Window.
