Almost rising back from the dead in late 90’s and now dominantly thriving as one of America’s most successful media options; TV series have managed to set their stance loud and clear across the entire world with the surge in internet and digital consumerism.

Setting trends and records on the global revenue charts and becoming an inspiration for several iconic movies; TV series have grown to be a mature and full-fledged industry within itself. The success stories and production pomp of USA’s television content has been appreciated, applauded and often criticized for its finesse and realism.

Exploring various genres of content from thriller, suspense, romance and comedy, and many more; the variety and options for audio visual content have grown into several verticals providing holistic entertainment opportunities. With TV sets and internet television viewing options in all the homes; boredom has pretty much been diluted to its extinction.

Game OF Thrones

Game of Thrones, Dexter, Big Brother, prison break, bones, how I met your mother, friends, everybody loves Raymond, Marvel-Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D, lost and the leftovers have been some of the hottest names all over US and several other countries. Although several instances of objections and criticism from the obscenity, nudity and violence perspective have raised lots of alarms for the producers across time, the content has in totality been well accepted and perceived throughout.

Now that the TV series are getting bigger on budgets, there are several investment scopes opening up for the same. Season one of The Leftovers received mostly positive reviews from critics all over, while Season two received critical acclaim. On the other hand, Lost has been many a time been termed as ‘the best television series’. This fame and popularity has indeed brought about a revolution in the way world looks and perceives television and its series.

Here’s why television has hit a splendid high in recent years:

Technology: With online and digital options stepping in; television has no longer remained, the only source for consuming its content. With the surge in websites, video portals and mobile applications, offering television content, the scope of viewership has expanded by several folds. This has been a great help with the shrinking time availability and busy schedules of various working class people all over.

Content: In recent times, the quality and variety of content has been very instrumental in getting television back to its golden days and even beyond! With the diverse plethora of television series catering to different types and tastes of consumer preferences, the acceptability and affinity for television has skyrocketed in mere few years.

MasterChef Reality Show

Fiction & Reality: The want for fictional content and beyond natural experiences along with the hunt for extremely real representations have very well been answered by the television series. This has inspired a lot of viewers to better explore and expect from the possibilities of television. While reality shows like American idol, so you think you can dance, and MasterChef and many more have helped bring out best of the talents; several other like Marvel-Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D, Game Of Thrones, the leftovers, revenge and Spartacus have brought alive some of the most amazing graphic compositions on television. Comedy series like Big Bang Theory, everybody loves Raymond, two and a half men and friends have got rib-tickling moments to screen; whereas Lost, Sherlock Holmes, CSI Miami and breaking bad have made some of the greatest mystery moments.

Movie Fade-Away: Some of the share of television’s success also needs to be credited to the fact that the movies from Hollywood production houses have lost their charm with repetitive stories, poor concepts and high expectations. This has indeed caused a goliath transformation of movies-buffs into religiously dedicated series-buffs.

Time and Frequency: Going to the relatively unnoticed and underappreciated plus of TV series is that they consume relatively lesser time and allow high- frequency of exposure with daily or weekly formats of broadcasting. Movies on the other hand take up a large chunk of time and also demand a higher level of planning that makes the very process complex. The ease and comfort of TV series viewing has played a big role in making it the star performer of today!
