In the classic futuristic stock photo, man is zipping around in flying cars, soaring through the sky in a convertible. Our actual futuristic cars are nothing like that, but they might be almost as amazing. Our vehicle of the future is the electric car. Sure, the electric car has gotten a lot of bad rap in recent years but it doesn’t deserve it. People think that electric cars will be too slow or too expensive, or it will be a pain to recharge them. Well, maybe it would have been a pain to recharge your electric car several years ago when the technology was still fairly new, but now there is a large network of recharging stations throughout the country that make it just as viable if not more so than a gas car. In addition, as with any new technology it slowly but sure gets cheaper and more accessible to the average person.

In addition, if you think that an electric car will be much more expensive, think how the price of the vehicle will be offset by not having to pay those ever-increasing gas prices. An electric car also has the added benefit of running off a renewable resource. Simply put, we will eventually run out of gas and/or oil, but we won’t run out of electricity. And the icing on cake is the environmental benefits of not spewing all that exhaust into the air. So an electric car is definitely an affordable, realistic option, and it has many very clear advantages over gas powered cars.

Electric Car

Well, the obvious question here is where to get an electric car. Well look no further than Tesla Motors. Tesla is a name that is synonymous with electricity, and that shows in their cars. A perfect example of this is the Model S. If you thought you couldn’t get an electric car with that smooth dynamic look you want in your vehicle then you thought wrong. The Model S’ sleek sporty design is not only great to look at, but practical too. It is designed with aerodynamics in mind. The car is made to have as little wind resistance as possible, thus ensuring you the maximum zap for your buck. The Model S guarantees you will be getting the most out of your battery. And the Model S even has electronic cooling vents, so if you were worried about your cars battery overheating, you can drive easy. And with a smart suspension system to reduce drag it will definitely be easy driving indeed.

It is also worth noting that all that electricity is going towards more than just making your car move forwards. The Model S can boast one of the best sound systems in automotive transportation. And to top it off, this sound system is connected to a state of the art touchscreen interface right next to the steering wheel. It comes with WiFi and internet connections. It is like you have a smart phone imbedded in the car. And talk about smart. If the smart suspension system wasn’t enough, the Model S has parking sensors, speed indicators, automatic emergency breaks and even traffic-aware cruise control.

Model S

With so many automated features it almost feels like the Model S will gain sentience and rebel. But in all seriousness the safety features on the Model S almost make the notion of accidents laughable. They say that machines will never be able to fully account for human error, but with features like automatic lane centering and high/low beam headlights, the Model S sure seems to be doing a good job. With this electronic master at your fingertips, getting from point A to point B has never been as simple or as enjoyable.

Now don’t go thinking that Tesla is quitting while they’re ahead, far from it. Tesla is continuously working on new top of the line cars like the Model X. As of now the not yet released Model X is as mysterious as its name suggests, but there can be no doubt that it will prove to be another fantastic product of ingenuity and thinking outside the gas tank.

Tesla knows what they are doing when it comes to electric cars; however, others aren’t slow to jump on the ever growing gas free bandwagon. Soon electric cars will become a standard. So while a vehicle like the Model S may seem like a dream from the far distant future, you can still have that dream today.
