The world is completely different today and we can take and share photos in seconds from anywhere on the planet that has a data connection. Instagram

Instagram is a social media platform but it’s on board photo editor has smoothed many a selfie. Instagram makes it really easy to take a professional looking photograph because of the many filters you can choose from. Each filter casts a different perspective on your greatest shots.

You can take photos from within the app or upload a photo from the photo file on your mobile device. Some minor adjustments like cropping are available, too.

Snapchat

Snapchat is like Instagram’s edgy little brother. This app has a host of photo editing capability too and I’m sure you’ve seen someone share a picture of themselves wearing dog ears on social media recently. They probably achieved that through Snapchat.

The filters are mostly for fun but as more brands use the platform to advance their message, we may see Snapchat grow up a bit. Either way, the app is extremely popular and one of the many photo editing apps that are taking the world by storm.

PicMonkey and Snappa

I’m going to talk about these two together because they aren’t technically mobile apps. They’re websites. The photo editing capability of both is incredible, however, and they just had to make my list. You can access the mobile version of the site and if you are on a tablet they’ll be especially easy to use.

You can build infographics, posters and promotional materials, eCards and all sorts of formats that involve photos with these sites. Both of these websites allow you to overlay icons and text on your photos to make them extra special.

Adobe Photoshop Express

Photoshop Express is a slimmed down version of the software preferred by most people who work with digital images. You can add simple filters to photographs but also perform incredibly detailed adjustments and banish that cursed red eye. The ultimate bonus is that the app syncs with social media apps to allow for seamless sharing.

Pixlr

Pixlr is not just for creating digital photo collages. There is solid photo editing capability in this app. Pixlr has revolutionized social sharing of photos letting users create an image with true artistic flair. It’s easy to use so there is very little learning curve. You can impress your friends in no time. This app is also great for bloggers and anyone who ever need to create promotional media.

Flickr

Flickr lives on and you should swing by again to see the new digs! There is quite a lot of photo editing capability with Flickr and it is one of the world’s earliest photo sharing media sites, after all. There is plenty of content to browse made by others and you can mark your work private or share it with everyone or specified groups of users. You can even use Flickr to back up the photos that you store on your phone.

Google Photos

Good old Google Photos is all you really need if you’re a basic user who’d like to edit some photos. Filters, contrast adjustment, and other common photo editing tools are available in the app. Google Photos also offers a lot of free cloud space to store all of your pictures safely. Whatever you ultimately plan to do with your pics, Google Photos can probably handle it.

Snapseed

Snapseed is like Instagram with more functionality. You can get more in-depth with your photo editing and go far beyond simple filters with Snapseed. Many people use this app on their pictures before uploading them to Instagram. That’s some serious selfie love.

These apps are great for casual users, but one of the best things about technology is that it can really spark a deeper interest in someone who has the desire but doesn’t yet possess the talent. Once you get tinkering around with some of these apps, you might find yourself composing shots and editing each one for the perfect snap. Let those creative juices run wild; just remember to share your work with all of us. We can’t wait to like it.
