The ghost and ghoul season is just around the corner and the festivities have begun. The American holiday which the young and old, all cherish alike is the most awaited. Emma Crawford Festival: The Emma Crawford story dates back to 1889 when she came to the town of Manitou Springs, which has lots of natural springs which were believed to have healing powers. She came with the intention to get rid of tuberculosis. She expressed her desire to be buried at the peak of the Red Mountain. The legend is that the spirit of Emma Crawford still haunts the Red Mountain. The Emma Crawford festival marked its beginning in 1995 which is celebrated every year to remember Emma Crawford. Coffin races are held with four people carrying the coffin and an impersonator of Emma in the wheeled casket.
